A charming, historic and unique hotel overlooking the rooftops of Lucerne which seems to come straight out of a fairy tale: the Castle Gütsch, a legend in the hospitality industry!
We are very pleased to introduce you to this magnificent castle hotel! Following three months of renovation work, this boutique hotel has been shining brightly since the 7th of January 2022 and has just reopened its doors. The hotel is now welcoming Hotelcard members! We naturally went there to check out the hotel and are still in awe of it. See for yourself.
A stunning view
The Castle can be spotted from afar. It stands tall on the Gütsch and glows with magnificent charm. It can be reached by taking the Gütschbahn. This funicular takes you to the hotel in one and a half minutes. It is also possible to drive to the hotel, as there are parking lots available ( for an additional fee). The first reward at the top is the magnificent panoramic view over Lucerne and Lake Lucerne. The best thing to do is to secure a seat on the terrace and enjoy the view while sipping an aperitif.
One is magically drawn to the charming Gütsch bar, located right next to the reception. Besides the excellent drinks, the decoration is very elegant, the seats are comfortable and the view is phenomenal. A view that can be enjoyed from almost anywhere in the hotel. More than 50 varieties of whiskey and more than 20 varieties of rum can be found on the drinks menu.
A place where you eat like kings
For many years, the gourmet restaurant "Lumières" at Schloss Gütsch has been treating guests from near and far. The name "Lumières" is a reference to the sea of lights formed by the city of Lucerne, which can be contemplated from the panoramic restaurant. Chef Ludovico di Vivo elaborates exceptional dishes that are bound to surprise you. His Mediterranean origins are reflected in his wonderful culinary creations. For the evening menu, you can choose between the three-course menu and the five-course chef's menu, unless you prefer to compose your own dinner à la carte. The Gütsch team will be happy to advise you on your choice of wine from the castle's cellar.
Sleep like the Sleeping Beauty
The cosy rooms of the Château Gütsch will make you feel as though you were in a castle of yore. The characteristic furniture will take you out of time and create a refined atmosphere. Hotelcard conditions enable you to book superior double rooms with a view over the woods and the lake, as well as triple and family rooms. Some rooms have a private balcony: as always, the view is breathtaking! The bathrooms are very elegant, adorned with marble.
Embark on a boat in Lucerne and enjoy an hour's sailing on Lake Lucerne to reach Vitznau. At the edge of Lake Lucerne, get off the boat and board Europe's oldest cog railway to climb the Rigi, the king of the surrounding peaks. At an altitude of 1,800 metres, admire the 360-degree panorama of 125 magnificent peaks. This trip is worth it in both summer and winter. The main advantage: you will escape the fog!
